A Pleasurable Pit

The Pit and Pendulum, Nottingham.

On a dark and eerily quiet night in Nottingham we found sanctuary in this very unsanctified place. We didn’t actually plan to come here and only stumbled across the ghoulish green glow gleaming from this gothic glazed gathering. When we were allured in by the initial juxtaposition we realise that there was so much more dark delights inside other than just the eerie outside. When the one of the first things we saw as we entered the Pit was a large picture of Edgar Allan Poe we knew what we were getting ourselves into. Everything from the tombstone booth to alchemy skeleton tanks with perfectly true to the theme and that was before we’d made pur way downstairs.

When descending into the depths we noticed what we thought was just another fake case decoration we have come to detest but oh how we were wrong. Upon closer inspection we noticed that there was a secret door which lead to the toilets. With no obvious signage this would be a true mystery for someone who was eager to tend to nature’s call. We probably wouldn’t have noticed it if it wasn’t early on a Monday night and the place was quiet. There are lots of quiet secluded areas to form covenants to whichever of your favourite dark deities, each with their own unique style. We loved the tables with the occult symbols and instruments cast into resin in the centre. You can really tell the people designing this put a lot of effort into its creation and maybe had slightly disturbing vested interests in the subject. Make sure you pack your holy water and silver crosses for this one.

The pictures really don’t do it justice but check out us looking all dark and moody.
