Could Murder a pint!

The Murders Pub (The Gardeners Arms).

One of most famous in Norwich because of nickname and dark history. In 1895 the landlady’s daughter was murdered by her estranged husband in pub with a bung picker, a similar hammer is actually display on the one of the walls. The long-standing landlord is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and more than happy to go out of his way to share his information on this gruesome tale as he is as interested in story as the people are listening. If you look on the walls you can see various newspaper cuttings and other information relating to this case as well.

Sat at the cobbled bottom of timberhill it is not hard to imagine how this pub would have been throughout the centuries. Wonderful contrast of the dark corners, where I look at people wondering if they are spectres, often trying to brush against them to check if they’re from this plain and sun blessed risen section at the back that feels you’re waiting for rapture.

Being situated close to the centre, have a licence to show football and one of the more well-known pubs in the city means that this place can get very busy and is rarely empty.
