The George Hotel.
We start off our journey by having a few colds ones with Georgie boy. Considering the fact that it has got ‘hotel’ in its name, it wasn’t what we were expecting when came down the side road off the busy Newmarket Road. Surprisingly enough, and even more surprising is how often we find this surprising, is that when you get inside the big white building is that it looks like… a pub! I think somewhere deep in our subconscious we were thinking we have to lay on beds and order our drinks over the phone. Just as well this was not the case of we would have never left.
Inside was a clean, fresh modern style with classic elements complemented by the calming pastel colours. All this made a great relaxed setting to enjoy a cold lager out of a perfect frozen glass served by the helpful staff. By the way, we should mention that we had just been cycling and were a bit hot so the frozen glass will be weakness in our opinions of this place. Although we like the overall style, we weren’t fond of the fake bookshelf wallpaper and fake plants. We wouldn’t have minded the plants by themselves but together made it seem too false.
If we were eating or staying the night we probably would have given a higher rating.
